Halloween in Madison 2006: Day Two, The Events

contessahalloween102706.jpgThe "no parking" signs are up. The Capitol building is surrounded by snow fencing. The giant spotlights are parked near State Street Brats. Traffic is beginning to back up on the main arteries. Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, and Iowa plates have been viewed around town. The state troopers are moving into Lowell Hall with riot gear. The costume shoppes are packed. That can only mean one thing - Halloween is ready to start oozing out onto our most famous street. But guess what? There is more to Madison on Halloween then just State Street. It's true! Just check all of the musical party goodness happening around Madison below (and check back tomorrow for off State Street Saturday events).

Contessa Says...is hosting her monthly art and music showcase this evening at Cafe Montmartre. She will be featuring a rare acoustic performance from one of Dane101's favorite acts - Null Device. The art this month will be from Nicole Olthafer. Rounding out the night will be music from DJ Donnie Vendetta. Wear a costume as there will be prizes! Starts at 9 p.m.

The Annex is touting "the craziest Halloween show in town." Obviously they missed out High Noon party on Wednesday - but that's okay as they were hosting the Eagles of Death Metal. Anyway, White Party Dresses will spend the night punching you in the junk with some of the hardest party rock in town. Opening will be Kaddisfly, Dissent and Revolt, and Butt Funnel. Starts at 8:30 p.m. and the admission is free if you are wearing a white party dress.

The Inferno is also strongly encouraging costumes as they present a "Everyday is Halloween" theme night for their weekly event - Fusion! No cover before 11 p.m. and you will be dazzled by the spinessence (I just made that word up, neat!) of DJs Alex Hall and eRok.

The High-Noon has plenty of soul , funk, and raunch tonight as Andre Williams is joined by the Diplomats of Solid Sound. Madison's rising stars the Nervous System open starting at 10 p.m.

The Klinic has a packed show with Skip the Middle Man, The Atomic Blue, Steez, Planet of 9, Venus Over Paris all joining forces. Starts at 8 p.m.

Hugh G. Gogh will be debuting his new band Yay Big! at Mother Fool's Coffeehouse. On stage he will be joined by Julia McConahay on violin and Mike Mixtacki on congas and percussion. Opening is Mike Nocolai. Starts at 8 p.m.
