Righting the wrongs via Craigslist: El Dorado walk outs

Food | Restaurants

Seen on Craiglist missed connections this morning:

To the three people who screwed my friend Jose out of $200: I hope you enjoyed the ridiculous amount of appetizers, drinks and entrees you enjoyed last night at El Dorado. Your server Jose, who makes $2.33 per hour in wages, has to pay for it because you didn't. He actually lost money during his 6 hour shift, and when he works tonight, he will still be making up for your selfishness. By the way, nice timing, rent was due yesterday and he needed his tips to pay it. Now tack on a $40 late fee and you have cost him $240. In case one of you has a heart that is not made of rat feces, you can leave him an anonymous envelope of cash at the host stand with his name it.

waiters shouldn't be liable for that....

You shouldn't have to pay for something that you didn't cause directly or through negligence (is a waiter really a security guard?). Wisconsin law is fairly clear about this too...you have to sign an agreement beforehand to be held liable for an employer's loss http://www.dwd.state.wi.us/dwd/publications/erd/pdf/ls_45_p.pdf. I'd have a talk with Food Fight, Inc. if I were that waiter.

I've worked as a waiter at

I've worked as a waiter at some reputable and some less than reputable places and have never had to pay for someone bouncing after the check. I am finding this hard to believe.

I'm Calling Shenanigans

I'm calling Shenanigans. I don't buy it. Waiters are not responsible for 'dining and dashing'. And even if this story was true, I believe it takes 'narrowcasting' a bit too far. It's off-topic and probably belongs on a bulletin board and not center stage on a popular Madison, WI blog. Just my two cents...

We only post stuff like that on weekends when traffic is usually lower and there's not much other content to put up. It does sound far-fetched. I found it to be entertaining.
