The Food Delivery Baron: Gino's Pizza
Hello again, gentle (r)eaters! Tis I, the food Baron Allen here. Today's article will explore the delivery of Gino's on State Street.
As always, I placed a phone order for delivery to my friend's apartment on South Hamilton, with the desire to have a Large Cheese Pizza and an order of breadsticks. The order was placed at 7:44 on Thursday, February 22.
The phone was picked up right quick, and the lady on the other end was quite polite. Unfortunately, Gino's does not have breadsticks, but she offered Garlic bread as a replacement. In order to best keep consistency, I agreed, much to my wallet's disappointment later! I was informed the total would be $20.90, which seemed steep.
I was told the order would take betwixt an hour and forty-five minutes. Forty-seven minutes later at 8:31, the order arrived. The deliveryman was also polite, and made sure that I got my receipt. I am glad he did, as my credit card number, complete with my expiration date, was printed upon it! I'll be keeping a close eye on my credit card bill, and this is the reason for the lowered score on "Ordering & Delivery" below.
The cost of the breadsticks Garlic bread was $5.95, which wasn't exactly bad, given the amount there was, but still fairly expensive for a bunch of bread. I suggest skipping the Garlic bread when you order, as the pizza itself was quite filling. As you can see in the photo, the pizza does not seem all that large. I would place its size at just shy of 14 inches, but that just made it's filling nature all the more impressive! The cheese was the best I've had thus far, and there was plenty of it. The crust was also very good, almost buttery, but also pleasantly chewy. The sauce was nicely flavourful; mild but very tasty. The spicing was unique, and I couldn't exactly place it, but it was excellent nonetheless.
The garlic bread was tasty, but I am sure it makes a better appetizer then pizza accompaniment. Basically, it was not really worth the cost for us.
The pizza was very good the morning after, and served well for breakfast. The garlic bread did not do as well, becoming very chewy, but was not bad, per se.
Final review: The pizza was very tasty, and the value rating would have been higher if it was just the pizza, given its highly filling nature. The fact that my entire credit card number plus expiration date were printed is disturbing, to say the least. The delivery time was acceptable, but nothing to write home about.
