Cruisin' for a Boozin': 1 Tequila, 2 Tequila, 3 Tequila - Wasted

Boozin | Food | Drink

jon-tequila103106.jpgAlright alright. Fresh from my Dane101 kickoff third place costume, with Halloween over for some of us and just beginning for others, I thought I would discuss a liquor that, while probably really has nothing to do with Halloween whatsoever, is a booze I have been favoring lately, so, well, there. BOO! (oh my god, wait, I mean BOOze! ha!). Tequila is a booze that many people have a very, uh, particular relationship with--many middle aged ladies that work in call centers speak to the "wackiness" that ensues if they have one too many frozen strawberry - mango - raspberry margaritas at TGIFridays. Word! Others claim that their voracity for the liquor usually ends in fistfights or random, um, encounters. But, whether you are a purist or a pokey puppy, tequila can thrill and delight.

Now, as far as margaritas go, I have had my share around town--now, we have all had our moments of cheap nachos on a Tuesday or Thursday, drowned in half-price pitchers at Pedro's. What? You haven't? What the hell is wrong with you? Go there right now. It's the rules. While my definition of "quality Mexican food" has little to nothing to do with Pedro's, my definition of "laughing my drunk ass off while my boyfriend almost finishes an entire three pound burrito" has everything to do with Pedro's. I mean really.

Now, one place I would go for really delicious and ooh-la-la margaritas? El Dorado Grill. Are they cheap? No. Are they delicious and have neat ingredients like fruit nectar and top shelf tequila? Yes. Another Food Fight owned restaurant and bar that has delicious albeit not cheap margaritas is Tex Tubb's Taco Palace. Besides the adorable ambiance and tasty foodstuffs, their margaritas, frozen strawberry to be exact, are quite nice. AND on Tuesday nights, you can get them for $2.00 after 10 p.m. That ain't bad.

But, my friends, El lugar en que me gusta lo mas para bebir las margaritas? Hacienda on Park Street. Their food is yummy. Their margaritas are S-T-R-O-N-G. And when you are going to go see your friends' cousin's band across the street at The Klinic, and there is going to be a fog machine and a roadie who smells girls' hair involved, believe me, you'll be grateful for the mixtures of salt, triple sec, tequila and deliciousness coursing through your veins. Now, up until, oh, well, a week ago, I mostly only enjoyed my tequila in it's margarita-ed form, but, let me tell you, I have gained an appreciation for the tequila shot, thanks to Lisa, Lee, Jacob and my boyfriend Shawn. After four of those and half of a Take 5 candy bar, I was ready to take on the world. Or, um, get a taco bell nacho cheese chalupa with beans instead of meat and get the hiccups before falling asleep. But, whatever, man. I'm street. Happy Hallowiener!
