Rep. Baldwin closer to announcing Senate run?
Wisconsin Rep. Tammy Baldwin sent a fundraising letter to supporters today seeming to indicate she's on the verge of announcing a run for the Senate seat being vacated by Herb Kohl. In the letter, she asks supporters to "show the naysayers we have what it takes to make history again." Text of the letter is below. What do you think, is Baldwin preparing to run?
I’m facing an important personal decision about my future and our efforts to build a more progressive America. And so I’m writing to ask for your input and support.
As you may know, there’s been speculation about whether I will enter the 2012 race for Wisconsin’s open U.S. Senate seat. Over the past weeks, I’ve heard from friends across Wisconsin and across the country who have urged me to consider a campaign for higher office.
But, before I can commit to a race for the U.S. Senate, I need to know that I’ll have enough financial backing… the kind of backing that will allow me to run a campaign equal to the enthusiasm and spirit of my supporters on the ground.
The extremely important June 30th filing deadline is only a week away.
If you believe that I should be a candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2012, I hope that you will help show that we have the support to run and win by making a special contribution.
Click here to make a contribution of $10, $25, $50 or whatever you can afford.
***, when I first ran for Congress, all the pundits and old guard political insiders were telling me that I couldn’t succeed. Even some of my fellow Democrats said the odds were stacked against me.
And it’s true. Wisconsin had never in all its history even sent a woman to Congress. But together, you and I proved the doubters wrong.
If I run for U.S. Senate, it can’t be a half-hearted campaign. We are indeed upping the stakes and it has to be a full-throttle effort that reaches out to voters all across Wisconsin.
Before I can commit to this kind of race, I need to know that you’re with me.
And with a critical fundraising deadline coming up on June 30th, I need your response today. So please, take a moment right now to help me send a message about our strength and determination.
Help me show the naysayers we have what it takes to make history again.
Will you help us hit our goal of raising $10,000 in grassroots support by June 30th by clicking here to contribute $10, $25, $50 or whatever you can afford?
Let’s stand together in building a more compassionate and prosperous America where working and middle class families come first.

PLEASE RUN TAMMY!!

Baldwin would make a fantastic senator and her run would be a historic campaign with national implications for LGBT civil rights.
If she runs, she must be seeing deep indications Feingold won't run, that is, unless she is up for a very ugly primary fight at the least.
That said, I'm hopeful Feingold decides to run for Governor. He may be enjoying the life outside of a political position, but Wisconsin's very core is at stake, and there is no doubt that he would galvanize the electorate in a fashion that no one else could.
Anways, Baldwin for Senate and Feingold for Governor would be quite a way for Wisconsin to show the country what we're really about. Here's hoping we have the opportunity for both!

What makes you think "Baldwin would make a fantastic senator"? She has done NOTHING as a represenative. Worst congressperson ever.
