A Sweet Google Scoop: Babcock Dairy announces plan for Google Fiber ice cream

Post by dane101 on 3/10/2010 7:00pm

Babcock Dairy

Madison is pulling out all the stops in order to attract Google Fiber to its shores. Dane101 has confirmed with Ald. Mark Clear that Babcock Dairy will launch a "Google ice cream flavor" as part of the city's service bid. Samples will be available tomorrow night at a public meeting being held at Olbrich Gardens at 7:00 p.m. where the public is invited to share ideas for how to convince Google to make Madison its flagship city for the high-speed internet project.

For what it's worth, we're told that the ice cream is "Google colored," with M&Ms and granola (to represent fiber--heyo!).

We'll be pulling out at least some, and maybe all of the stops to make sure Google knows it would be crazy not to put their fiber here - there is plenty of work for them who wish to become tired :)

I just got off the line with the Babcock Dairy Plant Manager, Bill Klein, who tells me they are testing the sample of the new flavor today and still plan to bring it to the meeting tonight. But, the sample size is such that there might not be enough to share with the class... or at least the entire class. Mass production of the new flavor is likely still three or four weeks out.

I really need to get up to Madison and check out this Google fiber business. I mean, I care about ice cream and super high speed broadband Internet connections. Now, if only I could make sure I don't totally blow it when I get up there and not have a policy in place that covers me for accidents. I'm thinking about getting some short term medical insurance before I do anything. Can't be too careful I guess.

Hilarious. I can't wait to try it!

I think they just made a small batch.
