Inquiring Minds: How are you spending your election night?

Current | Election 2008

The final debate is tonight and that means we have 20 days until we enter the voting booths and cast our votes for the person we think is best suited to lead this nation (unless you vote early). Dane101 wants to know how you plan on spending your election night? Are you going to be at home with friends? Will you be at a bar with drink in hand? Will you be all alone clicking refresh every five minutes on your computer? Will you be at one of the election night parties around town, such as at the Majestic or at Alchemy? If you are a venue, are you hosting a viewing party we don't know about? Drink specials?

Inquiring minds want to know in the comments section below!

Cable

I'm hoping Shane orders cable. *nudge, nudge*

DIGIBOT and The John

DIGIBOT and The John Ashcroft Fan Club play at The Frequency that night. WAY more fun than watching the results on television, plus a billion tons of rock. That's where I'll be.

whoops a daisy

"Digibot and The John." It's like the story of Digibot going to the bathroom.

Alchemy

MADemocracy party at the Alchemy!

MADemocracy

What is that?

It's a fledgling group

It's a fledgling group trying to get more of the community involved in the political process (I've been going to some of the weekly discussion groups). Here's the official blurb:

"Come watch history-in-the-making at the Alchemy, Tuesday, November 4 from 5:30 to Midnight. (The east side is NOT that far away, especially for this much fun!)

Join MADemocracy, a community organization dedicated to inspiring typically disenfrachised populations to get involved in the political process. (Related to EHS' own MADemocracy Club.) Hear former school board member Juan Jose Lopez, Alderman Isadore Knox, a DJ, and others, while we watch election day coverage and celebrate the times!

There is a $5 suggested donation but no one will be turned away...

At the Majestic!

We'll be showing it on the big screen, and will be partying mightily!

November 4, vote for Jan Murray

I'm locking all the windows

I'm locking all the windows and doors and drinking Jameson straight from the bottle to celebrate or drown my sorrows; we'll have to see which way the wind blows.

at the polls

I'm volunteering as a poll worker, so I'll probably still be there pretty late.

Super-boring night

I work all day at both jobs on Election Day and the day after, so I'll probably only catch about an hour's worth of coverage on Election night. (I already voted, though - first time I've done it early.)

Voting tomorrow

I've finally come to terms with breaking from the ceremony of waiting in line and feeling that exhilaration when I vote on election day and will be voting tomorrow. It will also be my first time voting early.

Old fashioned, I am.

I did the early vote thing in 2004, and y'know what? I'm old fashioned, and prefer going to the polls on election day. Plus, hey, this year I get to vote at Olbrich Gardens! Pretty!

Yeah, I wish I could do it

Yeah, I wish I could do it the old-fashioned way, too. But I know there's just no way I'm gonna be able to manage it with my schedule that day. (Unless I create a GOB-like diversion to cut in line...)

vote early/vote often

I voted yesterday, it was great!

Early voting...

...I dunno. I like the sentiment behind it (especially keeping the lines shorter on voting day) but for some reason I worry that my vote won't be counted or will come into question.

Paranoia.

I'm a little paranoid, too.

I'm a little paranoid about it, too. But I know I won't have enough time to vote on E-Day, so I'd rather take my chances than not vote at all.

I did get a little democracy-high afterward. Hopefully I'll experience it second-hand on 11/4...

Voting Early

Having already sent in my absentee ballot, I'll be spending election night in rural County Clare, Ireland.

I will most likely be consuming copious amounts of Murphys or Carlsberg and then try to find a TV with a signal once the 3 bars in this particular village close at 11:30pm. Yes, Ireland has a bar time earlier than us.

I will wake up in the morning and still not know the results because of the 6 hour time difference.

Election Night at Jade Monkey

I'll likely be at the Jade Monkey. Not only does it have the best atmosphere in Madison, it also has the best regulars :)

I understand Hawk will also be having an Election Night party at Hawk's on State Street!

Going to Chicago!

I voted yesterday so I could head down to Chicago and attend Obama's Victory (hopefully) party if it ends up being in Grant Park. Already have a hotel reserved. Typically I would stay in Madison, but I can't pass up a historic event that is so damn close!!!

Election night/Watch and discuss/Rathskeller

Consider coming to the Rathskeller.

Come relax and watch the results come in on the night of the election with discussion tables and reflections on a historical election, regardless of the outcome.

Presented by the UW Society and Politics committee.
