Wisconsin Primary: Election Officials Sought for Campus-Area Polling Places

The City of Madison is being proactive in the face of what could be a record setting election turn out here in Madison. With the entire Clinton family having made or scheduled to make appearances, as well as the massive turn out for Illinois Senator Barack Obama on Tuesday, voter energy is high. The city has sent out a call for extra hands at campus area polling places. MADISON: The Madison City Clerk’s Office is seeking Madison residents to serve as Election Officials at campus-area polling locations for the February 19 Primary Election.

Election Officials will set up the polling place, check-in voters, and facilitate Election Day Registration.

To qualify to work as an Election Official, you must be an eligible voter—a United States Citizen and a Madison resident age 18 or older. Three shifts are available:

    * Morning Shift (6:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.)
    * Afternoon Shift (1:30 p.m. until paperwork is complete after the polls close)
    * Full Day (6:15 a.m. until paperwork is complete after the polls close)

I just signed up to be a poll worker all day Tuesday...I think there's pay involved, too.

shifts

Too bad they don't have a late shift. I figure there are people who'd be willing to come in after work and others who will have been there all day and would like to go home.
