Dane101 is looking for contributors. To keep this a collaborative blog reflective of Madison and its surrounding area we are always interested in hearing from individuals who have specific passions. While we are open to listening to anyone’s ideas for what should be appearing on Dane101, there are some immediate segments we are looking to fill. We will be holding a meeting before the end of the month with all of our current and hopefully future writers - for an invite, let us know what you are interested in ASAP:

Books/Bookstores: We are interested in finding a bookworm who would be interested in writing about Madison’s literary community. We are especially interested in someone who loves the smell of old books and likes rifling through awkward dusty books cases for gems. Must not hold an allegiance to any one independent book store in the area.

Anecdotes and Daily Observations: Are you the sort of person who tends to be in the right place at the right time to see odd and interesting things. Need a place to tell people about it? Dane101 is your answer - if you can capture the spirit of Madison on a daily or nightly basis we have a home for you.

Mixed Drink Writer: We have an excellent beer writer, but we are now seeking a companion in alcohol. If you like exploring Madison bars, restaurants and lounges for the best martini, Bloody Mary or any of the many other products of mixology and can capture it in words; we are interested in hearing from you.

Music Writers: We can never have enough music writers because - well - there is just too much music in Madison. Writers needed to review shows, review albums, interview bands, preview events or possibly write an in-depth article on the scene. We are also interested in bands that may be looking for a home for their tour journals.

Politics: The election is coming up and it will be a hot one locally and statewide. Dane101 is looking for both reporters to cover controversy as well as interview local politicos. We are very interested in finding some people who want to hang out at the Capitol building and city hall. We are also looking for political commentary - no matter what political color you may be - green, blue, red, commie red - our pages are open.

Theater: We have one excellent theater writer, but even he can only cover so much. If you have a love for the stage we want to give you the opportunity to share it with the city and the world.

Technology/Science: This is a new one for us, but it is long overdue. There is a great deal of tech and science in this region of the state and it is often overlooked. If you are someone who likes to keep up with the recent trends in tech - be it bio or gaming - and can write about, we are interested in hearing from you.

Sports: We are very interested in sports writers. Be it Badger or Mallard, Rollin Doll or Ultimate Frisbee, we are open to suggestions. There is a great deal of potential in sports writing on Dane101 and beyond - potential we really can’t divulge here - please contact us to discuss the future.

Community Writer: We hear it all the time - "you don't really cover much of Dane County for being Dane101." True, that's why we need you. Want to keep us abreast of what is happening in Verona, Fitchburg, Middleton or other up and coming towns surrounding Madison - step up. We have a category set aside just for you.
