Since there are so many important issues it is difficult for me to understand why we would ever spend six hundred thousand dollars to have a Halloween party. I believe the idea of not charging students is reprehensible since they are the main participants.
That said I think the actual cost should be reflected in the cost of admission and people wanting to go will pay it. I believe whatever money is saved with this idea could be used to house the homeless in the freezing cold winter days.
I keep hearing that there is no generation x that they only care about themselves but as an activist I would challenge this generation to prove it. With their responsibility and respect for what we have in this country if we don't want to take more than we need we need to respect what we have.
Maybe this would be a message to students who come hear from around the world that we are replacing our indulged progeny with some new mindful responsibility. Instead of witnessing the usual wanton waste they might otherwise take back to there country they might see us turnaround with a more global awareness and respect for that which our government will provide even if it should not waste the tax payers money this way.
