WFF2008 Review: "In Search Of A Midnight Kiss"

searchofkiss081008.jpgSunday morning came early after the Nerdcore premiere the night before. Still, the Orpheum possessed one of my most anticipated films of the Wisconsin Film Festival, and neither the early start nor a hangover was going to keep me away.

In Search of a Midnight Kiss is the story of Wilson, a man that recently moved to Los Angeles to sell a screenplay. Wilson’s roommates Jacob and Min, encourage him to start dating and find someone to spend New Year’s Eve with. Wilson eventually gives in to his nagging roommates, and creates a personal ad on Craigslist.

Before long, Wilson receives a call from Vivian. They make plans to meet and spend part of the day together. Day collides with night, as the pair explores Los Angeles.

I knew within the first five minutes of watching this movie that I was going to enjoy it, as I nearly fell out of my seat laughing. Literally, it’s a good thing the seats are nice and tight in the Orpheum.

In Search of a Midnight Kiss is the perfect mix of romance and comedy. This is what all other romantic comedies should aspire to be. I gave this movie a 5 on my Steep & Brew ballot. This was not the best movie I saw all weekend, but is one I plan to eventually purchase on DVD and watch numerous times.

"In Search of a Midnight Kiss" opens nationwide on August 1, 2008.

I really wanted to see this

I really wanted to see this movie, but a hangover did stop me, I guess it will have to wait until August.

Clerks meets Swingers

I was pleased that it didn't end up being Clerks meets Swingers. When it first opened I saw it heading that way, but they might the right decision to not go in that direction.

The photoshop scene is sure to secure a place in cinematic history.

Ooooh, so sad I missed this.

Ooooh, so sad I missed this. I'm looking forward to seeing it on DVD.
