Rockin' the Posters: I'm Just Sayin is All presents Chris Garneau

pfister02052607.jpgOne of the most common scenes when walking around Madison, be it State Street or Willy, is the vast forest of rock poster art that can often be found hanging in store fronts and on kiosks. The posters often seem to utilize nearly as much labor in production as one would expect from a band performance. Often limited edition, these works of art are also very often short-lived in the life span of kiosk advertising - competition or unappreciative advertisers quickly cover them up or the city workers tasked with making sure the kiosks don't burst with paper slash them down with razors. This week we begin a new feature on Dane101 where we attempt to preserve some of this art on the internet.

Kyle Pfister of the blog "I'm Just Sayin' Is All" gave us the idea after he sent in some images of the series of posters he made up for a show he is hosting in town featuring the musician Chris Garneau. Pfister was also kind enough to snap some pictures of larger installations he pasted on kiosks downtown. These posters, as shown to the left and below, seem to bleed across the collage of posters gathering on the kiosk. Sure enough, within hours of Pfister sending us these pictures on May 18 they were nearly covered up by posters touting summer work for college students.
