Back to the Dane County (and beyond) airwaves every Friday, airing on WORT 89.9 FM Madison community radio, it's the June 10 edition of Mel and Floyd. This week's show includes "more nuggets of wisdom" from these radical radio raconteurs. According to Sarah, who we appreciate very much for her work, the June 10 "show is 1:00:38.099 long," while the listener has access to "a 44,100hz mono 56kbps MP3 file." This week also comes with a bonus for those listeners out there not tied to their desk or laptops. Beginning with this week's show, and hopefully for many thereafter, an RSS feed for Mel & Floyd is available, thanks to RasterWeb. RasterWeb is the home of Pete Prodoehl, who describes himself as a computer hacker, audio dork, technology nerd, and as somebody who "helped start the thing we now know as" blogs and podcasting in '97 and the summer of last year, respectively. His ridiculously low id numbers on a couple of community-based web tools certainly bolster these declarations. He wrote that Mel & Floyd;
…is probably the only radio content I actually try to listen to. By chance I heard it while driving home on a Friday a few years back during summer hours, and now each summer I try to listen…
Prodoehl went on to lament the lack of a podcast capability for the shows uploaded on the Madison IMC. Not one to wait, however, he set one up himself. Prodoehl also has "a hand in" Ocono.com, a blog for and about Oconomowoc. This website somewhat similar in theme and concept to Dane101, though it is probably more comparable to Northfield.org, all three of which are blogging-based websites covering a particular city or region. For those interested in checking out the last nine months of the show, be sure to check out our Mel and Floyd archive. The archive includes links to Mel, Floyd, and Mr. Smarty Pants, beginning last September, and continuing through this week's program. |
