Madison Summer Festival Previews 2008: WORT Eleventh Annual Block Party: May 18, 2008

wortblockparty.jpgWORT is having a block party? As they say on the internets, w00t! That must mean summer is officially here! Hoo-rah! The WORT Block Party returns to South Bedford Street for year number 11 on May 18 officially kicking off not just summer in Madison, but also the city's busy festival season. The event celebrating one of the longest running community radio stations in these United States starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 7 p.m. In between those hours there is beer provided by local breweries, music ranging from celtic rock to bluegrass, and food. The band schedule is below:

11:15 a.m. Nob Hill Boys ("High-Lonesome" Bluegrass)

12:30 p.m. The Gadjo Players (acoustic eclectic, jazz, Gypsy swing, Latin, Celtic, bluegrass, and even a little rock and roll)

1:45 p.m. Vibe Syndicate (original funk and R&B)

3 p.m. Roots Collective (roots rock reggae)

4:15 p.m. The Blueheels (alt. country/but bring the rock)

5:30 p.m. The Pints (Two parts Irish music, one part whiskey)
